Chapter 11

Serenity

Long ass day.

Too much drama.

“I wonder who that woman is all up in Jason’s face though,” I muttered softly as I worked out on the treadmill.

I decided to stop by the gym, after the hectic day at work. I didn’t want to go home alone; I didn’t want to bother Shauntay who was dealing with her own problems with Mark; I didn’t want to bother Ruby who was more than likely spending QT with her family; and I didn’t like being the single chick that always pulled her married friends away from their family, just because I was bored or lonely. So, there I was at the Knight’s gym breaking a sweat and shedding these unwanted calories.

I glanced again and the red-headed woman was all over Jason. He seemed to be eating up the attention. Her hands were all over him, and he wasn’t resisting her flirtations in any way it seemed. I’d bet he never met a woman he could resist. That’s the very reason I could never be with a guy like him. He had Playboy written all over him. His fair skin and golden dreadlocks were a magnet for all sorts of women to fall at his feet. I was sure of it.

“Hey Serenity,” Jonathan came up behind me.

“Jonathan!” You almost scared me to death. I didn’t hear you.”

“I’m sorry, Serenity. I didn’t mean to scare you. I’m surprised to see you here this late at night.”

“Yeah, I had an extremely stressful day. I didn’t feel like going home just yet, so I decided to come into the gym and get a workout in.”

“Smart choice. I would love to workout with you, but I have a contract I need to go over,” he said looking at the Rolex on his wrist. “Will you still be here in twenty minutes? It shouldn’t take me that long to tie up my business for the night and get back to you.”

I looked at Jonathan’s handsome face. Now this twin, I could work with…He was a real gentleman and made me feel all fuzzy on the inside whenever I was around him. I wished to God he would ask me out. Sometimes, I thought he really liked me and wanted to ask me out on a date, but he never did.

“I’ll still be here,” I finally replied.

“Great,” he said and touched me on my shoulder and squeezed it, before he walked off towards his office.

“Damn!” I muttered low. “I really need to get some.”

The touch of Jonathan’s hand to my shoulder was nothing but casual, but it felt more like a caress and the effect blessed my panties with moisture.

“Are you over here talking to yourself, sexy lady?” Jason came up behind me. I nearly jumped out of my skin, again.

“Shit!” I said aloud. “You Knight twins really need to stop sneaking up on me. I could have karate chopped you in the kneecap or something.” I slowed the treadmill down to a slow walk.

“I doubt your little kick could hurt a big sturdy body like mine,” he said and flexed his muscles to show me how they rippled.
